Myatt!

As your City Council representative, I believe in being transparent about the issues facing our community, what we can realistically accomplish, and where I stand on several important topics.

LOWER PROPERTY TAXES

I remain committed to keeping property taxes as low as possible while maintaining essential city services. Approximately 52% of an Elsmere homeowner's property taxes go to the Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District, whose tax rate is set by the school board, not City Council. To put that into perspective, our school district's property tax rate is approximately 53% higher than Kenton County Schools, 46% higher than Boone County Schools, and 45% higher than Campbell County Schools. While we cannot change the school district's tax rate, I will continue to advocate for responsible city spending and keeping the taxes under City Council's control as low as reasonably possible.

E-Bikes and Public Safety

Electric bikes are becoming increasingly popular, and safety concerns are growing. We need clearer, enforceable statewide regulations that give local law enforcement the tools and authority needed to address unsafe operation. This is an issue that requires action at the state level, and I support pushing for those changes.

GARVEY BRIDGE

There has been considerable discussion about the Garvey Bridge. However, the City of Elsmere does not own this bridge, which limits our direct authority over it. I believe we should continue working with the responsible parties toward a reasonable solution rather than making promises the city cannot independently fulfill.

hire a City Administrator

I believe Elsmere would benefit from having a professional city administrator to help oversee daily operations, improve efficiency, and provide consistency. However, I also believe this position should be filled after the upcoming election. A qualified candidate will likely want some level of job security, potentially a two-year commitment, and the incoming administration should have a voice in making that decision.

SELL OLD CITY BUILDING

The former city building needs to be sold. Holding onto property that no longer serves a necessary municipal purpose creates ongoing expenses and ties up taxpayer resources. I believe it's time to move forward and put that property back into productive use.

TERM LIMITS

I understand why residents support term limits, and I recognize the value of bringing new perspectives to City Council. However, historically, Elsmere has not had a large number of candidates seeking council seats. Until we consistently have enough residents willing to run and serve, term limits could create more problems than they solve. I support encouraging greater participation in local government before pursuing changes that might limit our pool of qualified candidates.

Ultimately, my goal remains simple

keep taxes low, spend taxpayer dollars responsibly, improve city operations, and make decisions that benefit Elsmere residents both today and in the future.

I may not agree with everyone on every issue, but I will always be willing to listen, answer questions, and explain my decisions.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve our community.
